Frequently Asked Questions -- Database Programming
1. What kind of databases do you develop?
We have experience in several different areas: business, communications, geographic and government.  Databases can be single machine, networked or even Internet capable.
2. My developer has left the company. Can you take over the maintenance and upgrades for existing databases?
Certainly. We have modified several existing databases and maintained them for several years .
3. What size databases will you work with?
We limit the size of databases we will develop/maintain because we want to be able to provide on-time service to our clients. That is why we limit ourselves to MS Access and MySQL technologies. We can quickly evaluate your database as to whether it makes more sense for you to hire a full-time programmer or use our part-time services.
4. What is your development process?
The first meeting is an assessment of your needs, from which we generate a statement of work, detailing what we will do for you, when we will do it, and what it will cost. From this document, we will generate a contract and then the work will start.
Database development requires the active participation from you. You know your business and your business process. It is usually better to create a database that models your processes rather than disrupt processes to fit the software.
5. Do any projects require in-person meetings?
That depends. Most meetings can be held via telephone or Internet conferencing, but the size of the job determines the amount and location of meetings. Travel is a separate expense, as required.
